After LASIK eye surgery many patients experience immediate improved vision, although it can take up to six months for vision to stabilize. Patients can expect a short LASIK surgery recovery period but there is usually little to no discomfort following the procedure. Follow-up exams ensure proper healing.
LASIK Eye Surgery Cost and Financing InformationThe cost of LASIK eye surgery often appears intimidating to patients considering vision correction treatment. LASIK cost varies based on the patient's degree of refractive error and the area of the country the procedure is performed. What many patients don't know, however, is that there are numerous LASIK financing options available that can help decrease or disperse the fee.
Am I a Candidate for LASIK Eye Surgery?A good candidate for LASIK eye surgery must meet several general requisites. LASIK patients should be at least 18 years old, demonstrate no change in refraction for at least one year, and have realistic expectations regarding the results of LASIK eye surgery.

corneal topography - A process of mapping the surface details of the cornea with a unique camera/computer combination. Used to determine corneal slope and astigmatism for PRK refractive correction. Also used post-operatively to measure the results of PRK treatment. The computer data can manipulated to show the efficacy of ablation and the quality of smoothness of the final refracted surface.

Dr Boothe: Coma - A higher order aberration which makes points of light look like comets with blurry tail-like smudges. It can be diagnosed and treated with wavefront-guided LASIK procedures.

Complex Wavefront Retreatment - An off-label use of the excimer laser to do corrective secondary surgery after the original wavefront-guided surgery has left the patient with higher-order aberrations.

There are four different types of eyeglasses available. Reading glasses are worn when working close up. Bifocals are eyeglasses with two points of focus for near vision and distant vision. The top part of bifocal lens is used to correct other eye conditions like myopia or astigmatism while the bottom part is used to correct close up vision.

Mascara and the creation of beautiful lashes: Mascara frames your eyes and can make your face come alive. Mascara softly accentuates the eye while thickening and darkening the lashes; it is the finishing touch for eyes. There are several different types to choose from, thickening, and waterproof to smudge proof.
Waterproof will need a special remover and smudge proof will wash off easily. It is not a good idea to wear waterproof mascara for extended periods of time since it has a tendency to dry the lashes. Select a shade of mascara that complements your coloring. Dark shades on pale eyes with brown lashes will darken them and will look harsh. Stay away from blues and other colors since they will ruin your look.

Board Certified - This is the phrase used for approval by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO), a non-profit and independent organization that was founded in 1916 to certify ophthalmologists.

Broadbeam - The term used for applying the excimer laser to the entire treatment area at one time. It’s the typical way laser treatment is done for myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. See also Flying Spot and Variable Spot.

With modern developments, there is no need for any contact lens wearer to suffer from dry eyes, so get help and remove the irritation.Contact lenses and dry eyes are soon to be a thing of the past! - More LASIK and Dr William Boothe
Until recently, contact lenses and dry eyes seemed to come hand in hand. Modern technology, however, has developed several ways for contact lens wearers to deal with dry eyes. When eyes become dry, they can be irritable, bloodshot and in severe cases, vision can become impaired.
Dry eyes occur for a number of reasons, although there is thought to be a particular link between extended contact lenses and dry eyes. Dry eyes are also prevalent with older contact lens wearers as tear ducts become less effective with age. Problems with contact lenses and dry eyes become exacerbated when wearers spend a considerable length of time in front of a computer screen or in an air-conditioned environment.
DR WILLIAM BOOTHESpecific Contact Lenses for Dry Eyes There are some manufacturers that deal specifically with the problem of contact lenses and dry eyes. For example biomedics offer their own range of frequency 55 contact lenses for dry eyes. The higher water content can be a real benefit for those suffering from irritated and dry eyes.
